SACRAMENTO — A State Bar Court panel has scolded a former Yolo County judicial candidate who falsely accused his 2012 opponent of involvement in a corporate bribery and fraud scheme.

In a case of first impression, the three-judge panel issued a “public reproval” in finding that Clinton Parish had unfairly smeared candidate and incumbent Superior Court Judge Daniel Maguire in campaign literature. Parish, now a criminal defense attorney in the Tuolumne County town of Sonora, was ordered to complete an ethics course within one year.
