The Pennsylvania Superior Court appears to have solidified a victory of more than $200 million for Aetna by reversing a Philadelphia judge’s denial of its claim against its excess insurance providers and remanding the case to the trial court to enter summary judgment.

According to Aetna’s lawyers, barring any appeals, a summary judgment will result in an award of about $200 million in damages for Aetna, plus several million in interest, as well as the opportunity to amend its complaint to add a count of bad faith.
