In hopes of avoiding financial peril, the trustees of the Barnes Foundation are petitioning Montgomery County Orphans’ Court for permission to move their world-renowned art gallery from its traditional Lower Merion home to an undetermined site in the Philadelphia Art Museum area.

Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis partners Arlin Adams, Carl Solano and Bruce Merenstein, who are handling the matter for the trustees, argued that under present conditions, the foundation incurs large annual deficits that cannot be offset through investments and its depleted endowment.
