There are many Democrats who believe the new Sixth Congressional District was created by a Republican-heavy state Legislature for the sole purpose of sending GOP State Sen. Jim Gerlach to Washington. But longtime Morgan Lewis & Bockius partner Frank M. Thomas Jr. and former Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll associate Dan Wofford hope to prevent any such coronation.

Thomas, a self described moderate Democrat, has resigned from Morgan Lewis to mount his first campaign for elected office. He will be opposed in the Democratic primary by Wofford, a veteran of former Gov. Robert Casey’s administration and the current director of the College Access Program within the non-profit Philadelphia Education Fund. Gerlach is special counsel at Fox Rothschild O’Brien & Frankel’s Exton office.
