As 2016 draws to a close, it’s the perfect time for me to update a number of subjects that this column has addressed in the recent past.
Citing unpublished Pennsylvania Superior Court decisions: A commissioned judge serving on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania spoke as a panelist on opinion writing at the 2016 Appellate Judges Education Institute Summit in Philadelphia last month. She reported to attendees that the Superior Court is in the process of approving revisions to its internal operating procedures that would allow litigants to cite to that court’s unpublished decisions for their persuasive value. That would be a very positive development in my view, so I hope that the change is approved in the very near future.
