With another statewide judicial election on the calendar for next year, political observers said the race for the sole Pennsylvania Supreme Court vacancy will likely experience after-effects of the recent presidential election, even though the two races are often ¬completely unrelated.

The federal and state officials elected in November have not even taken their positions yet, but Pennsylvania is readying for the 2017 municipal and judicial elections. The field for one open Pennsylvania Supreme Court seat remains thin for now, but one candidate made his intention to run official this week.
