The Senate Labor & Industry Committee last week held a public hearing on legislation, SB 1306, which would prohibit workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.

Some who testified asked that a religious exemption be placed in the legislation. Executive director of the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference, Robert O’Hara, told committee members that the center of the issue is the distinction between orientation and behavior.
