Five refugees who fled violence in their homelands will now be able to attend high school in Pennsylvania after initially being denied enrollment into Lancaster school district’s program for international students.

U.S. District Judge Edward G. Smith of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said the school district violated the equal education rights of the students, aged 17 to 20, by placing the non-English speakers in a fast-paced remedial school instead of a program primarily focused on teaching English.
