Revenge and retaliation were at the root of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s alleged leak of grand jury information and her ensuing cover-up, her prosecutors argued to a Montgomery County jury Tuesday as her criminal trial began. Bucks County assistant district attorney Michelle Henry, in her opening statement, painted Kane as a public official so unfamiliar with negative publicity and concerned with her image that she orchestrated an effort to embarrass a political rival whom she believed contributed to her first batch of bad press.

“Revenge is best served cold. Her words. The defendant’s words,” Henry said. “That’s what this case is about: revenge.”
