When David Hickton was sworn into office in 2010 as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, he stepped into a lead prosecutor’s role, but immediately took on a presence well beyond the courtroom, fighting cybercrime and working to stem the heroin and opioid epidemic not just in his own backyard, but across the country.

In the nearly six years since, Hickton has risen to national prominence as a tireless advocate for fighting both epidemics, culminating last year with his being named by the White House as co-chair of the National Heroin Task Force as well as seeing his year-and-a-half- long effort to fight international hackers lead to charges filed against 70 people worldwide allegedly using Darkode to facilitate wire fraud and money laundering.
