Political action committees have started taking center stage in Pennsylvania judicial races, with one even financing nearly 40 percent of a state Supreme Court candidate’s bid in the November election.

Although some court watchers say the growing war chests that judicial candidates need these days may give rise to concern over the need for recusal, some attorneys have said that the PAC system is uniquely suited to judicial elections.
