In a federal appeal, attorneys for Bill Cosby have argued that a federal judge was wrong to unseal documents from a 2005 lawsuit against the comedian, denouncing the contention that Cosby, as a “public moralist,” has a diminished privacy interest.

Cosby’s lawyers, Patrick J. O’Connor and George M. Gowen of Cozen O’Connor, argued U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania erred in holding that there was no good cause to maintain a 2005 seal on Constand v. Cosby, in an appellate brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit filed Wednesday.
