Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Danielle Banks presented, “Church Members in Conflict: Limitations on Civil Court Jurisdiction,” at the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges‘ mid-annual meeting in Philadelphia.

She discussed issues relating to when and how courts may handle internal disputes of churches and congregations, specifically addressing contract disputes, property ownership issues, bylaw disputes and more.

Banks is chair of Stradley Ronon’s diversity committee and a litigator in the firm’s Philadelphia office. She represents companies and individuals in employment law matters.

Jennifer A. Brandt, a member of Cozen O’Connor‘s family law practice, is set to participate in a panel discussion titled “How to Build Your Brand and Grow Your Network.”

The discussion is part of the “Lawyernomics 2014: Succeeding in the Business of Law” conference April 24 in Las Vegas.

James W. Cushing, of the Law Office of Faye Riva Cohen, led the 14th annual “America Judicial System” seminar at Bucks County Technical High School on March 24.

The seminar gave social-studies students an inside look at the judicial branch of government.

Cushing’s practice focuses on all aspects of family law, contract law, landlord/tenant law, unemployment compensation, real estate and small-claims matters.

Michael J. Engle, a partner at Greenblatt, Pierce, Engle, Funt & Flores, addressed Pennsylvania trial judges at the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges mid-annual meeting on the topic of “Secrets of the Grand Jury.”

The presentation focused on the law involving state investigating grand juries.

Engle specializes in all aspects of federal and state court criminal defense.

Events

Fisher & Phillips is set to host an event called “One Day, Many Solutions” on Friday in Philadelphia.

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius business and finance partner Stephen Jannetta was awarded the President’s Service Award at the Pennsylvania Bio (PA Bio) annual dinner and awards celebration March 12.

PA Bio is a statewide trade association representing the life sciences industry. Jannetta has been an active member of the PA Bio board of directors for six years.

Jannetta is a deputy practice group leader for Morgan Lewis’ business and finance practice.
