A Philadelphia trial judge has ruled that Cigna Corp. is not entitled to coverage for liability arising from a class action brought by former and current employees alleging the company misled them about their retirement benefits.

On Monday, Judge Albert J. Snite ruled in Cigna v. Executive Risk Indemnity that Cigna was barred from coverage because the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut found in the underlying litigation that the company had intentionally misled its employees.
