A judge's decision that the matriarch of the Perelman family fortune was domiciled in Philadelphia could sustain the removal of her estranged husband of 70 years as the beneficiary of her residuary estate.

Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge John W. Herron, of the Orphans' Court Division, wrote in a July 23 decision that Ruth Perelman was domiciled in Philadelphia, not Palm Beach County, Fla., as her husband and prominent businessman, Raymond Perelman, contended. Raymond Perelman is appealing a decree of the Philadelphia Register of Wills that admitted Ruth Perelman's July 28, 2010, will into probate, according to the opinion. Ruth Perelman died July 31, 2011, at the age of 90 and after being married to Raymond Perelman for 70 years.
