Suspended Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin is asking her colleagues on the high court to put a stop to her upcoming criminal trial on political corruption charges.
In a King’s Bench petition filed with the Supreme Court, Orie Melvin raises the same argument she unsuccessfully made to an Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas judge late last year that charging her for violating internal court procedures banning political activity is unconstitutional and an abrogation of the court’s exclusive right to supervise itself.
