A Delaware County judge has upheld a municipal ordinance outlawing billboards, saying the ban constituted a proper use of the township’s police powers.

Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge Chad F. Kenney affirmed a ruling of the Zoning Hearing Board of Springfield Township, which had barred an advertising company from erecting two billboards in the township, citing Section 143-101(A)(5) of the township’s zoning ordinance, which completely prohibits billboard advertisements.
