Instead of hearing argument Tuesday on motions that could drastically change how asbestos cases are litigated in Philadelphia, Common Pleas Judge Sandra Mazer Moss has asked the defense and plaintiffs lawyers in the asbestos bar to negotiate a new form of case management for asbestos cases.

Following an off-the-record meeting with the asbestos bar, Moss, the coordinating judge of the First Judicial District’s Complex Litigation Center in which mass tort programs are housed, said in an interview with The Legal that she continued arguments over global case management motions because she would rather see if the asbestos bar and their clients can strike an accord on the case management disputes before she issues rulings guaranteed to take a trip to the appellate courts.
