After a number of Pennsylvania newspapers including Pennsylvania Law Weekly joined in an emergency motion Tuesday, U.S. District Senior Judge Maurice B. Cohill Jr. conceded that voir dire in the trial of former Superior Court Judge Michael T. Joyce would be conducted in open court.

Cohill resumed jury selection Tuesday morning in Joyce?s insurance fraud trial in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. After knocking out about one-third of the 100-person panel Monday, Cohill announced through a clerk that he and counsel would conduct individual questioning on responses to a juror questionnaire in chambers.
