In a ruling regarded as a major victory for Pennsylvania media, the state Supreme Court has ruled reporters and the public in general have a First Amendment right to obtain the names of jurors in a criminal trial.

The court, however, stopped short of siding entirely with the Pittsburgh newspaper and television station seeking the information in a Westmoreland County murder trial, ruling that personal privacy concerns outweigh the public interest in releasing jurors’ addresses.
