Pennsylvaniaís attorney general has standing to pursue parens patriae claims for unfair trade practices against 13 pharmaceutical companies that allegedly engaged in a price-inflation scheme, an en banc panel of the Commonwealth Court has ruled.

In Commonwealth v. TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc., PICS Case No. 05-1789 (Pa. Commw. Nov. 3, 2005) Colins, P.J. (44 pages), the court found that the parens patriae claims may be brought by the state to protect ìthe economic well-being of the Commonwealth and its citizens.î
