Calling into question a key provision of a state executive office directive concerning preferential treatment for veterans seeking careers in state government, a Commonwealth Court panel has ruled that a U.S. Army veteran from central Pennsylvania should have been able to use his veteran’s preference more than once over the course of his public service career.

Gregory Cutler has spent nearly two decades as a reservist following his six years of active duty, according to the opinion in Cutler v. State Civil Service Commission, PICS No. 06-1270 (Pa. Commw. Sept. 20, 2006) Leavitt, J. (18 pages).
