It is a challenge to place “law firm” and “sustainability” together in the same sentence, let alone believe that a law firm would launch a sustainability program. Everyone knows that law offices use large quantities of paper.

Nevertheless, that is what our firm did on March 17, 2008, commencing a firmwide initiative to create an environmentally friendly workplace. The program launched with a day-long workshop dedicated to addressing the environment from a business and consumer perspective. A local businesswoman spoke about sustainable practices, both in the office and at home. The primary goal was to establish best practices for the law office environment with carryover to employees’ lives outside of the firm. We have been following the green program ever since, and we will continue to follow and improve it every day, always trying to find better, more innovative ways to go green.
