Founded in late 2020, the DEI Task Force has achieved a lot in just two years under Rodriguez’s leadership. The group established the Firm’s DEI Mission Statement; declared Juneteenth an annual firm holiday and day of action; and hosted a two-part mandatory DEI training for and with the firm. The firm also closed its first year with a large DEI virtual event, Allyship with Women, which covered various topics, including how to be more perceptive to discrimination and harassment and to speak up, when necessary.

Another goal of the group has been to help the firm’s recruitment efforts be more mindful and inclusive to encourage more diverse candidates. Under Rodriguez’s leadership, the firm has recently sponsored university student organizations dedicated to underrepresented and marginalized communities, including Latinx student groups at University of Pennsylvania. Berger Montague also sponsored the 2023 MLK Annual Memorial Day Breakfast for the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia.
