Itri has received numerous legal awards, including being named to the 2022 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America list. The award honors Itri’s work in several notable cases. In one, medical device company Covidien agreed to pay $13 million to resolve a False Claims Act lawsuit filed by Itri on behalf of her client, a former Covidien employee, who blew the whistle on a kickback scheme designed to defraud Medicare programs. In another False Claims Act lawsuit, genetics testing company Renaissance RX (or RenRX) agreed to pay $42.6 million to resolve six different whistleblower lawsuits that contained allegations of payments to providers in exchange for their ordering RenRX’s genetic tests, inappropriate payments to independent sales representatives which violated the anti-kickback statute, and lack of medical necessity of the genetic testing. Notably, RenRX also consented to a 25-year exclusion from all federal health care programs.

Itri also served as part of the “Clean Diesel” Fraud litigation team working on lawsuits brought against car manufacturers for allegedly disguising the actual emissions levels of their diesel engine cars. More recently, she worked on a $1.4 million settlement resolving allegations that Florida radiology practice Mori, Bean, and Brooks, P.A. (MBB) violated the False Claims Act (FCA), as well as a $400,000 settlement resolving allegations that the Advanced Cardiovascular Care Center P.A., including its owner and its administrator, violated the False Claims Act (FCA). Currently, Shauna represents plaintiffs in the Philips Recalled CPAP, Bi-Level PAP, and Mechanical Ventilator Products Liability Litigation who have filed lawsuits against Philips regarding the disintegration and outgassing of sound reducing foam in the company’s recalled devices.
