Peco Energy Co., Exelon, Davey Tree Expert Co. and other defendants were slapped with a personal injury lawsuit on March 30 in Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County. The lawsuit, filed by Saltz Mongeluzzi & Bendesky on behalf of a Robert Wert, asserts that the defendants failed to properly inspect and maintain electrical power lines and the nearby tree branches. As a result, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered a severe electrical shock when a lightning storm caused a tree on a neighboring property to catch fire. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is Wert v. Peco.
