Following is a listing of executive and legislative action in Harrisburg from July 8 to 14. Both houses of the General Assembly were in recess at press time. The state House of Representatives was set to return to session Sept. 12, subject to recall by Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler, R-Lancaster. The Pennsylvania Senate was scheduled to reconvene Sept. 19, subject to recall by President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, R-Centre.

State Budget

The newly approved state budget ensures that the Wolf administration will leave its successor with a $5.3 billion budget surplus and a “rainy-day fund” bolstered by $2.1 billion in new deposits, according to a Wolf administration statement July 8.
