A Scranton, Pennsylvania-based attorney castigated by a federal judge for filing a $1 million fee petition from a $125,000 bad-faith recovery should be suspended for six months, a state disciplinary hearing committee has recommended.

The three-attorney hearing committee issued a report Tuesday, saying Scranton-based Michael Pisanchyn of the Pisanchyn Law Firm should receive the suspension, despite the lawyer requesting an informal admonition and the Office of Disciplinary Counsel requesting Pisanchyn be suspended for at least one year.
