There are many ways to disappoint a judge, and one of them is to file lots of motions. That’s according to Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Michael Hanzman, who said he believes they’re overused.

“If I had any criticism of lawyers, I think they sometimes overcomplicate and over-motion cases, especially in state court,” Hanzman said. “Every time you file a motion, it takes our time … and I find that a lot of motion practices are really time wasters.
