A Pennsylvania college can be held liable for the serious injuries a student sustained in being hit by a drunken driver while walking along a two-lane road to the school rowing team’s boathouse, the state Superior Court has ruled.

A three-judge panel determined Friday that the plaintiffs produced enough evidence to make a case that Lafayette College owed a duty of care to Aubrey Baumbach, a freshman member of the crew team who suffered severe brain injuries after being struck while walking along a narrow road that did not have sidewalks or adjacent walking paths.
