Hogan Lovells litigation partner Stephen Loney, manager of the firm’s Philadelphia litigation group, took a job at the ACLU of Pennsylvania last month where he plans to pursue civil rights work full-time.

Loney joins the legal advocacy group following the departure of its deputy legal director, Mary Catherine Roper, who joined Philadelphia litigation boutique Langer, Grogan & Diver in October. Sara Rose, a 16-year litigator with the state’s ACLU, was promoted as deputy legal director, but local ACLU leaders said Roper’s loss left a hole in the nonprofit’s representative matters.
