The family of a man killed in a 2019 South Philadelphia gas explosion filed a complaint Wednesday against Philadelphia Gas Works, the city of Philadelphia and a number of contractors in what the plaintiff’s attorney said was the first suit to arise from the incident.

Brian Diu, 28, was one of two people killed in the blast, which destroyed five row homes. The family of the other person killed, Rudy Kambong, is set to file suit in the coming days.
