The Superior Court of Pennsylvania sided with the makers of the blood thinner Xarelto last week, upholding the dismissal of a man’s personal injury and products liability claims for failure to comply with a case management order issued by the trial court.

Alfred Vilgosas, who suffered personal injuries after taking Xarelto, appealed an order from the  Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas that dismissed the civil case in July 2020. He elected not to participate in a global settlement by which Janssen Research & Development LLC would pay $750 million to settle Xarelto-related cases.
