After examining the question of whether a county judge violated ethics rules by handling a case in which her son is an attorney, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has declined to exercise King’s Bench jurisdiction over the case, saying instead that it would handle the matter internally.

The case involves Erie County Judge Stephanie Domitrovich’s appeal of the county president judge’s order disqualifying her from hearing a case involving Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, represented by her son, Aaron Susmarski. The Supreme Court’s 20-page opinion, authored by Chief Justice Max Baer, said the issue should be handled as an administrative matter.
