Whether pharmacies have a due process interest in determining whether an injured worker’s care is necessary under the Workers’ Compensation Act was one of the key arguments in the first session led by Chief Justice Max Baer, who took over as the high court’s leader at the beginning of April.

Baer, who was first elected to the bench in 2003, took over the leadership role after former Chief Justice Thomas Saylor agreed to step down as the court’s leader last month—nearly one year before he is set to retire. Saylor is sitting as an associate justice until his retirement.
