A western Pennsylvania school district has sued Gov. Tom Wolf and other state officials over their move to shut down extracurricular activities and interscholastic athletics programs in an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The lawsuit, captioned Butler Area School District v. Wolf, was filed Tuesday in the Commonwealth Court, with Dillon McCandless King Coulter & Graham attorney Thomas King representing the Butler County School District, as well as numerous school board members and parents. Along with suing Wolf, the complaint also names state Department of Health Secretary Rachel Levine and Noe Ortega, the acting secretary of the Department of Education.
