Amy T. Brooks, a Wisler Pearlstine partner, presented on the topic “Getting PDE on Your Side” at the PASA-PSBA School Leadership Conference in Hershey.
Brooks discussed how solicitors can improve the process and outcomes of PDE investigations and audits for their clients.
Brooks works with school clients helping them to understand and navigate the existing legal framework in order to proactively achieve their goals.
She routinely litigates for school clients in administrative and local agency proceedings up through the appeals process.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Christopher W. Rosenbleeth served as moderator at the Bisnow Big Philadelphia Retail Event on Nov. 8.
Rosenbleeth moderated the panel “The State of Retail: A Survival Guide for the Retail Climate,” presented by Bisnow, and discussed key themes facing Philadelphia's retail industry.
Rosenbleeth is chair of Stradley Ronon's real estate practice group.
He regularly represents banks and other lenders, equity investors, developers, corporate clients and strategic and financial investors in their real estate, finance and investment activities.
Rosenbleeth advises clients in connection with transformative projects in and around Philadelphia, particularly in the Center City and University City submarkets.

James C. Sargent of Lamb McErlane spoke at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on “Business Divorce: Startup to Litigation to Resolution” in Philadelphia.
The course outlined understanding business divorce complexities and how to advise clients starting businesses and/or stuck in intolerable situations.
Sargent specifically discussed litigation issues, potential claims, injunctive relief, insurance coverage, e-discovery and attorney fees.
At Lamb McErlane, Sargent is a partner and co-chairman of the appellate advocacy group and part of the firm's litigation department.
Additions
DLA Piper added associate Dylan Caplan to the firm's Philadelphia office.
Caplan, who began working as a law clerk for DLA Piper in 2016, earned his law degree from the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.
Caplan is a member of the new associates practice.
Announcements
Volpe and Koenig announced that the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society and Welcoming the Stranger have been awarded grants through its 11th annual IPromise Charitable Giving Fund competition.
Checks were presented to PAWS on Nov. 8 and to Welcoming the Stranger on Oct. 21.
Established in 2007, IPromise helps two qualifying Greater Philadelphia or Princeton, New Jersey, area nonprofit organizations each year, advancing their work by awarding $20,000 grants.
This year, organizations dedicated to animal welfare and community development were invited to apply.
To date, Volpe and Koenig has awarded more than $400,000 in IPromise grants.

The Philadelphia office of McCarter & English sponsored and walked in the 2017 Alzheimer's Association 5K Walk to End Alzheimer's on Nov. 11 at Citizens Bank Park.
The McCarter & English team raised over $9,000 for the cause and were joined by approximately 20,000 other walkers.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
