Peter Hearn, the 1989 chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and a one-time city mayoral candidate has died of natural causes at the age of 84.

Hearn was a partner at Pepper Hamilton in Center City for 30 years before moving into private practice. In the 1991 mayoral race, he ran against two former city district attorneys, Ed Rendell and Ronald D. Castille, but was considered a political outsider and had little support.
