The past few months have seen numerous unexpected twists and turns in both the Philadelphia District Attorney race and the race to fill numerous open seats on the Philadelphia courts—and primary day is shaping up to be just as unpredictable.
In the district attorney race, seven Democratic contenders are vying for the seat embattled District Attorney R. Seth Williams is set to vacate by the end of the year, if not sooner. The judicial elections are similarly crowded, with 27 Democratic candidates seeking one of nine available seats on the Court of Common Pleas, and six Democratic candidates vying for two seats on the Municipal Court bench.
