Messy litigation pitting former shareholder Fred Baron against Baron & Budd, the plaintiffs firm he founded, just got a lot more complicated for Vinson & Elkins partner Bill Sims, who represents Baron & Budd in the litigation.

At a March 16 hearing, Eric Gambrell — an attorney for plaintiffs Baron and his wife Lisa Blue, who also is a former Baron & Budd shareholder — told Dallas County Court-at-Law No. 3 Judge Sally Montgomery that he intends to depose Sims and ask him about his handling of some depositions taken in the litigation, Fred Baron, et al. v. Baron & Budd, et al. On Monday, Gambrell filed a motion asking Montgomery to allow him to depose Sims in her court’s jury room.
