Nearly seven years after Houston plaintiffs attorney John M. O’Quinn died in an automobile accident, and nearly as long since his firm started winding down, the firm has been sued again by an unhappy former client.

In July, a Houston-area woman filed a suit against John M. O’Quinn & Associates and former firm lawyer Carl D. Shaw, alleging they were negligent and grossly negligent in how they handled a medical malpractice suit following the death of her husband. She alleges the defendants’ negligence resulted in a Texas Supreme Court opinion in May that erased a more than $2 million verdict in her favor in the medical malpractice suit.
