Sean Johnson, managing counsel and assistant secretary at Houston-based OOGC America LLC, said he has had “an itch” to work in-house since his law school days. He has realized that goal for the past several years and, in his current position, is a one-man legal department for a growing oil and gas company.

Johnson, who became OOGC’s first in-house counsel in March 2014, has oversight of all legal aspects of the company’s operations, including exploration and production, land, joint ventures, human resources and integrity and compliance. He also supports some aspects of OOGC’s U.S. marketing and storage operations, handles corporate governance and contract management for the company and offers strategic advice on ongoing operations and potential future projects.
