Plaintiff with alleged back and neck injuries awarded

On Aug. 4, a driver who claimed back and neck injuries in a collision was awarded $10,000. On July 3, 2013, Cecilia Tangoma, then 62, was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus in Dallas. She had just left Northwest Highway and was at a yield sign, about to enter southbound Buckner Boulevard. Mary Esther Reyna stopped behind her in a pickup truck. Tangoma proceeded, but then stopped for traffic, and Reyna rear-ended her. The jury found Reyna negligent and awarded Tangoma $10,000 for medical bills only. The jury did not award physical pain and mental anguish or physical impairment. After adding prejudgment interest and taxable costs, the final judgment was $12,419.
