Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the counsel for Shell Chemical and Shell Trading US Co. This story has been updated to reflect that information.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled that a Texas federal judge properly dismissed the claims by Pemex Exploracion y Produccion against ConocoPhillips, Shell Chemical, Marathon Petroleum and other buyers related to sales in the United States of natural gas condensate allegedly stolen from Pemex in Mexico.

During the litigation, the defendants had argued that Pemex’s claims were barred by the Texas two-year statute of limitations. In addition, the defendants had contended that Pemex failed to trace the condensate allegedly purchased by each defendant to thefts that occurred in Mexico.
