Voters rejected Sam Houston last month in his optimistic quest to become a Democratic Texas attorney general in a deeply Republican state. But the litigator’s fortunes were much improved this month before the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston.

The appellate court just handed Houston and co-counsel Jerry M. Young victories in upholding rulings dismissing civil fraud allegations filed against their clients by the Allstate Insurance Company. The allegations alleged fraud in connection with treating injured car wreck claimants.
