Casey Goolsby’s recommendation for plaintiffs counsel who seek to beat back defense summary judgment motions: “Get into the facts of what happened.”

That’s what Goolsby, a partner in Longview’s Boon Shaver Echols Coleman & Goolsby, did before his client Hector Garcia prevailed against a summary judgment motion filed by defendant Tyson Foods Inc. Garcia and Tyson then agreed to a settlement and filed on Aug. 19 a joint motion to dismiss in Garcia v. Tyson Foods in U.S. district court in the Eastern District of Texas in Marshall. The court ordered a dismissal the next day.
