Jury awards $21,082 to driver rear-ended while broken down

On April 9, a jury awarded $21,082 to a woman who claimed cervical and lumbar sprains in a rear-ender. Chertia Gladney was driving a car that broke down on a Dallas highway. Minutes later, Sonia Villatoro rear-ended her, she claimed. Gladney said she had insufficient time to move out of the lane of traffic, and she had her emergency signals engaged. Defense counsel maintained Gladney had enough time to clear the traffic lane and was the sole proximate cause of the collision.
