The city of Farmers Branch will pay $1.4 million in attorney fees to opposing counsel for plaintiffs who fought a proposed ordinance to ban immigrants who are in the United States illegally from renting apartments.

The lawyers who represent the plaintiffs include William Brewer, a partner in Dallas’ Bickel & Brewer, and Nina Perales of San Antonio, the director of litigation for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) a nonprofit Latino civil rights organization.
