The pending merger-of-equals of Houston’s Frontier Oil Corp. and Holly Corp. of Dallas has a déjà vu aspect for Bob Jewell, who leads Frontier’s deal team. Jewell’s working relationship with Frontier dates back to his time as a summer associate with Andrews Kurth, and he has long-term knowledge of the company.
Jewell, now managing partner of Andrews Kurth of Houston, says Frontier, formerly known as Wainoco Oil, was one of his first clients, and he has done work for the company for 30 years. Jewell says he even represented Frontier in its failed merger attempt in 2003 with Holly.
