Like the compass to the ship captain, the barometer to the weatherman, thus is the calendar to the Texas litigator. But few lawyers fine-tune this appendage to their practices beyond requiring support staff to calendar dates itemized in the rudimentary scheduling order or in the applicable discovery control plan. But there are more deadlines to miss than these.

A good litigator will make sure to train staff, as a matter of course, to calendar the following deadlines (or responsive deadlines) which, if missed, can have far-reaching effects on a case.
